MONTROSE TRIO | Sept. 10, 2017 |
Martin Beaver - violin Clive Greensmith - cello
Jon Kimura Parker - piano
The Montrose Trio was formed in 2013 by Canadian violinist Martin Beaver, British cellist Clive Greensmith and Canadian pianist Jon Kimura Parker. Individually they are accomplished soloists with impressive careers to their credit; together as an ensemble they offer the music world “absolutely top-notch music-making, as fine as one could ever expect to hear” (Washington Post). Beaver and Greensmith are both former members of the renowned Tokyo String Quartet. Beaver has appeared with dozens of orchestras worldwide, including the Montreal Symphony, was a top prize-winner at the international violin competitions in Indianapolis and Montreal, and won a silver medal at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium. Greensmith was principal cellist of London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra before setting out on a career as soloist and chamber musician. Parker has given command performances for Queen Elizabeth II and for the Prime Ministers of Canada and Japan. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada. The Trio takes its name from the renowned Bordeaux wine chateau, the arts district in Houston and the street in Winnipeg where Beaver lived as a child. LMMC return engagement.
